Available Segment Conditions

You can create segments based on the following conditions:

  1. Subscriber Tags

  2. Actions

  3. Attributes

These will be explained in detail below.

Subscriber Tags.

Filter subscribers based on the tags assigned to them. Tags are custom labels you can create to categorize your subscribers, such as “Belayer”.

Selecting this will open up a Comparison drop down, allowing you to select comparison values:

  • Has One Of

  • Has None Of

  • Contains All

  • Contains None

Select one of these comparison values and assign the tags you have created in the Tags section

You can now add a secondary layer of segmentation by selecting the “Add Condition” drop down underneath. You may continue adding segmentation layers until you run out of action items.

  • Remember, every layer you add will reduce the number of email addresses in the segment.

Actions.

Action-based conditions allow you to segment subscribers based on their specific interactions with your email campaigns and automation sequences.

Selecting an Action will open up a Comparison drop down, allowing you to select comparison values:

  • Subscriber Clicked Automation Mail Link. Target subscribers who have clicked on links within automated emails.

  • Subscriber Clicked Campaign Link. Filter subscribers who have clicked on links in your email campaigns.

  • Subscriber Opened Automation Mail. Identify subscribers who have opened automated emails.

  • Subscriber Opened Campaign. Target engaged and un-engaged subscribers who have opened specific campaigns or any campaign.

  • Subscriber Received Campaign. Filter subscribers based on whether they received a specific campaign.

  • Subscriber Engagement. This condition evaluates overall subscriber engagement levels based on their historical interaction with your emails. It considers multiple factors including opens, clicks, and activity recency to classify subscribers as highly engaged, moderately engaged, or inactive. This is a powerful shortcut for identifying your most valuable subscribers without creating complex multi-condition segments.

Each Action condition will open up its own drop down menu of values, types, comparisons and comparisons.

Attributes

Attribute-based conditions filter subscribers based on their core profile information and list membership.

Selecting an Attribute will open up a Comparison drop down, allowing you to select comparison values:

  • Subscriber Email. Filter by email address patterns or specific addresses. This is particularly useful for B2B segmentation.

  • Subscriber Subscribed At. Filter subscribers based on when they joined your Subscriber list. very useful for emailing New and Long term customers.

  • Subscriber Not In List. Exclude subscribers who are members of another specific list. This is useful when you want to target subscribers from one list while excluding those who are already on another list, helping you avoid sending duplicate communications to subscribers who are on multiple lists.

  • Member. Filter based on whether subscribers are members of your climbing gym!

💡 Combining Advanced Conditions: The real power of segmentation comes from combining these conditions creatively. For example, combine "Subscriber Tags" with "Subscriber Engagement" and "Subscriber Subscribed At" to create highly targeted segments like "VIP customers who are highly engaged and joined in the last 6 months."
