How 'Activate on First Use' Works

What is 'Activate on First Use'?

'Activate on first use' is a membership setting that gives your customers flexibility. They pay for their first subscription period upfront, but don't start their regular renewal cycle until they actually make their first booking.

How Does it Work?

  • First-Use Activation: A membership officially commences on the date of its first use. "Use" is defined as the point of either booking any session in advance or making a first visit. e.g it is Monday 10th and and I book my first session for Friday 14th - the membership will become active from Monday 10th.

How to enable Activate on First Use

  1. When creating or editing a membership, under Additional Settings toggle on 'Delayed start / First use activation'.

Global settings

As well as enabling at the individual pass, pack of membership/subscription level, First use activation can also be globally enabled under Settings / Bookings & Timetable.

Important to Remember:

  • This setting is ideal if you want customers to control when their membership starts/renews.

  • If you want customers to start their renewal cycle immediately after purchasing the subscription, don't use 'Activate on first use'.

By understanding how 'Activate on first use' works, you can effectively manage your membership settings and offer your customers the flexibility they want.
