Create a discount code

This guide will give you the tools and understanding on how to create discounts on Clava.

Discounts are a useful tool for incentive's and growing business sales, for examples of how to setup a member benefit, see the article Member Benefits: Your Guide.

Creating a Discount - Part 1. Members

Navigation: Products > Discounts

Create a New Members only Discount:

  • Click the "Create New Discount+" button.

  • Name the Discount: Give it a clear and concise name.

  • Toggle the “Make a Member Benefit”. Toggling this option to the OFF position chooses a Manual discount and a discount code required to redeem. Toggling this to the ON position creates a new option:

    • Choose which pack or subscription your customers already hold:

      • This creates an Automatic discount (no code required) when the memberships you select, are held by the customer.

      • To select multiple memberships either select them one by one or select the whole category (Grey highlights).

  • **Discount percentage *** Define the discount % you wish to offer.

  • Usage per customer: Decide the frequency of the discount usage. Number of times within the drop down menu (only, per day, per week, per month, per year).

  • Applies to: Choose what the discount applies to, Everything or Specific items. By selecting the specific items, you can create a multi faceted granular offer.

  • Discount Period: If the discount has a limited time frame, set the date range.

  • Status: The discount will either be created as active or be saved as a draft.

  • Click "Save" to create the discount code.

Creating a Discount - Part 2. Non-Member discount (discount code)

Navigation: Products > Discounts

  • Create a Code based Discount:

  • Click the "Create New Discount+" button.

  • Name the Discount: Give it a clear and concise name.

  • DO NOT Toggle the “Make a Member Benefit”. This creates a Manual discount with a code required to redeem.

  • Discount can be used in conjunction with other discounts? - Toggling this allows the customer to stack the discount in conjunction with other potential offers.

  • Discount code: Create something fun or leave blank for an auto generated code.

  • Discount type: Choose a % or value based discount.

  • Global usage limit: This controls how many times a discount code can be used across all customers

  • Usage per customer: Decide the frequency of the discount usage. Number of times within the drop down menu (only, per day, per week, per month, per year).

  • Auto-renewing pack/subscription Limit: Define if the discount has been set up for auto renewing packs or a subscription.

  • Applies to: Choose what the discount applies to, Everything or Specific items. By selecting the specific items, you can create a multi faceted granular offer.

  • Eligibility: Define if this discount is for Everyone or First timer. (A first timer is defined as a for customer and their families who haven't purchased from us before.)

  • Email Restrictions. Restrict usage to members with a) complete email address, b) email domain or c) combination of both, comma separated. User email address must contain substring in order to pass. Examples: [email protected], @example.com, gmail.com. This is a useful way to create a specialized discount for a small business who have employees with a company email.

  • Discount Period: If the discount has a limited time frame, set the date range.

  • Status: The discount will either be created as active or be saved as a draft.

  • Click "Save" to create the discount code.

Tracking Discount Code Redemptions

Navigation: Products > Discounts

  1. View Redemption History:

    • Go to the "Discounts" page.

    • Scroll sideways to make the Action Cog viewable

    • Click on the Action cog name of the specific discount code you want to track.

    • A list of members and redemption details will be displayed.

Applying a Discount Code as an Admin

As an admin, you can apply discount codes to sales made through various channels:

  • Checkins Screen: Via the “%” button in the POS sidebar.

  • Manual Bookings: Add the code when booking a class or course.

    • Navigation: Schedule > Select session, course etc, > View session > + Manual Booking > Imput customer > Point of Sale

    • Add discount code

Redeeming a Discount Code as a Member or Customer

  1. During Online Checkout:

    • Locate the "Promo Code" field.

    • Enter the valid discount code.

    • Click "Apply."

    • If the code is valid, the discount will be applied to the total price.

By following these steps, you can effectively set up and utilise discount codes to attract customers and boost sales on your Clava platform.
