Learn how to quickly and efficiently duplicate existing courses in Clava, saving you valuable time when setting up new sessions.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

More often than not, courses remain largely the same, but they might run at different times of the year. Being able to duplicate a course quickly and efficiently is a real time-saver!

There are two straightforward ways to duplicate a course in Clava:

  1. From the Course List on the Schedule page.

  2. From within the Course Details page itself.

Duplicating from the Course List

This method is handy when you're Browse your existing courses.

  1. First, navigate to the Schedule and click on Courses.

  2. By default, you'll see courses scheduled for today. To find the specific course you want to duplicate, use the filters to show Upcoming Courses or use the search bar.

  3. Once you've found the course, go to the Action column on the right. Click on the cog icon ⚙️ and select Duplicate.

  4. A side peek will open, allowing you to update the new course's details. Make any necessary changes to the details e.g: dates, times, and other properties.

Please note: You are creating a new course based on an existing one. The original course will remain unchanged. All dates, the weekly schedule, and other properties have been copied and can be modified as needed.

  5. When you're finished, you have three options at the bottom of the side peek:

    • Preview: See how the new course details will look.

    • Save as Draft: Save your changes without making the course live.

    • Create: Finalise and create the new course.

Important: Closing the side peek before clicking any of the above buttons will cancel the duplication process, and your changes will not be saved or created.

Duplicating from the Course Details Page

If you're already viewing a course and decide to duplicate it, this method is quicker.

  1. From the course list under Schedule, click on the name of the course you wish to duplicate. This will take you to its Course Details page.

  2. In the top right corner, next to the course title, time, and location, you'll see a cog icon ⚙️. Click on it.

  3. From the dropdown menu, select Duplicate Course.

  4. A side peek will open, just like in the previous method. Here, you can update all the details for your new course.

  5. As above, when you're done, you can choose to Preview, Save as Draft, or Create the new course.

Important: Closing the side peek before clicking any of these buttons will cancel the duplication process, and your changes will not be saved or created.
