Where is my verification email?

Updated over a week ago

Google’s mobile app uses "Inbox Categories" to declutter your life, but it often misfiles verification codes. Here is where your Clava email is likely hiding:

1. The "Updates" or "Promotions" Tabs

Gmail automatically sorts automated emails into categories. Our verification link is frequently tucked away in:

  • Updates: This is the most common home for receipts, confirmations, and verification links.

  • Promotions: Occasionally, Gmail’s "Smart Features" mistake a sign-up link for a marketing offer.

How to check: Tap the three horizontal lines (menu) in the top-left corner of your Gmail app and select Updates or Promotions.

2. Search is Your Best Friend

If you don't want to dig through folders, use the search bar at the top of the app.

  • Search for: Clava or Verify

  • Pro Tip: Search for in:anywhere Clava to search every single folder (including Trash and Spam) at once.

3. The "All Mail" View

If your inbox is set to "Default," it only shows the Primary category. Selecting All Mail from the side menu will bypass all filters and show every email in chronological order.

🛠️ How to fix this for the future

To make sure Clava emails always land in your Primary inbox where you can see them:

  • Move the Email: If you find the email in "Updates," tap the three dots in the top-right corner, select Move to, and choose Primary.

  • Add us as a Contact: Add our sending address to your Google Contacts. Gmail almost always prioritizes emails from "people you know."

  • Mark as Important: Tap the star or the "important" marker on the email to teach Gmail's algorithm that you want to see these messages.

Still nothing? If you've checked "All Mail" and used the search bar and still see nothing, double-check that there wasn't a typo in your email address during sign-up.

You can always try resending the code from the Clava app.
