What are Customer types?

Customer types are discounted pricing categories that allow you to offer special rates to specific groups of customers, such as students, military, police or veterans, seniors, children, or industry workers. This feature helps you implement tiered pricing strategies while maintaining clear records of who receives which discounts.

Before You Begin

  • Ensure you have appropriate staff permissions to access Settings

  • Identify which customer groups you want to offer Customer types to

  • Determine the discount percentages or fixed amounts for each group

Step 1: Navigate to Customer types Settings

  1. From the left-hand navigation menu, click on Settings

  2. Select Customer types from the settings menu

Step 2: Create a New Customer type

  1. Click the + Create new button
Create a Customer type name (Examples include: College student, Local Gym staff etc)

  1. Assign a Color, this will help identify customers with a customer type at POS, Check-in and Customer accounts

  2. Add a Description to help staff understand who qualifies for this concession, make this very clear and easy to understand

  3. Assign a Default Duration, a drop down with duration is selectable

  4. Define the Document the customer needs to provide as proof.

  5. Toggle the File upload requirement if you wish to have staff take a copy of the documentation.

  6. Activate! Inactive types cannot be assigned to a customer.

Step 3: Apply Customer types to a Customers account

Once Customer types are created, you can apply them to a Customers account as a desk staff.

  • Navigate to a Customer

  • Select “Assign customer type”

  • Selecting the Customer Type will give you a drop down menu of all the Customer types you have previously created.

  • If you have created a Customer Type that requires ID to be uploaded or validated, the requirements will be shown in the sidebar.

Customer types will now appear on the customers profile and in the customer list as a colored bar with the title.
