Understanding Date Forward

Date Forward is a strategy designed to keep course prices competitive for late arrivals. By pro-rating the cost of a course as it progresses, you can attract more members and maximise enrolment. Once enabled in the course setting, members can sign up for any future date on a course, likewise, admins can manually add a member to a course and choose a present/future start date.

How Pro-Rating Courses works

The system will make the following calculations once you input the cost of the course during the course creation process:

  1. Determine the total course cost: Calculate the full price of the course.

  2. Calculate the course sessions: Determine the total number of sessions in the course.

  3. Calculate the per session costs: Divides the total cost by the total sessions.

  4. Calculate the pro-rated cost: Multiply the session cost by the remaining number of sessions.

Example:

  • Total course cost: £1000

  • Course sessions: 10

  • Session cost: £1000 / 10 sessions = £100/session

  • Pro-Rated cost for a member joining in week 6: £100/session * 4 sessions = £400
